Summer Instructions
Spray Tan season is in full swing!
To get best spray tan possible please read below:
1. Even on hot days its best to wear long loose pants and a long shirt. This will prevent skin on skin contact and also soak up any moisture on your skin.
2. Sweating and sprays tans don't mix so plan on being in a cool environment until your first rinse.
3. Sunburned and peeling skin does not tan well. Either the tan will peel off or if you are already peeling the tan will take darker on the areas that peeled. This can result in a blotchy tan.
Prep Instructions
It is important that you prepare your skin for the spray tan, this will ensure a more flawless application and will help the tan fade evenly. With proper prep and care your Airbrush Spray Tan should last at least 7-10 days! Before your spray tan we recommend:
-Wash and condition hair before you exfoliate
-Shower with a basic soap or even shampoo to remove any oils from your skin
(do not use a moisturizing soap as this can create a barrier on your skin)
-Exfoliate as much as possible leading up to the day of your Spray Tan
-Rinse really well before you finish in the shower
-Wax/Shave at least 8 hours before your appointment
-DO NOT apply moisturizers, makeup, perfume or oil based products to your skin on the day of your treatment. If you need to wear deodorant please only apply in the morning, not right before your Spray Tan session
-Bring dark loose clothing for after your Spray Tan
-Please schedule all hair, nail, massage or esthetician appointments at least 1 day prior to getting your spray tan to avoid rapid fading or chemical reactions with the spray tan
-If you are pregnant or breast feeding please let your Airbrush Technician know so they can take extra steps
Spray tan Process:
Barrier Cream Application
Blocks DHA from penetrating unwanted areas of the body
Hair caps, Nose Filters and goggles at clients request
Once the above is complete the tanning process will begin. You will have your choice on how dark you want to be and what you want tanned. As long as you are not pregnant or breast feeding you will have the choice of going completely nude (men must wear some sort of bottoms) or you can wear underwear, a bathing suit or whatever you are most comfortable in.
After we have sprayed your body you will have the option of having your face sprayed also. Choosing whether to spray your face or not really depends on how much makeup you wear and what kind of cleansers you use. Feel free to ask us questions about this!
Once we are finished we will dry you and you will be free to get dressed.
First 12 Hours:
-Do not shower until 8-12 hours after application, unless otherwise advised
-Avoid water on the skin while tan develops
-Try not to touch your skin while tan develops to avoid blemishes
touching yourself can also lead to your finger tips or palms absorbing some of the color
-Avoid heavy exercise or any perspiration during development
-Sleep in a long shirt and pants if you can on the first night, this will prevent you from touching
yourself while you sleep (even if you do the rapid tan and have already rinsed)
-For best results just do a thorough warm water rinse without soap for your first shower
-The bronzer will rinse off during your first shower, it can take 12-24 hours for the tan to fully
develop so give it time!
-It is best to wait 24 hours after your appointment before shaving your legs, apply lotion or exercise
Maintenance:
-Avoid long hot showers or soaking in a bathtub
-Pat dry with a towel after showering
-Moisturize daily to maximize the duration of your tan
-If you plan on swimming it is best to put on either lotion or waterproof sunscreen before you go in water. This will create a barrier on your skin that can help protect your tan
-DO NOT exfoliate until your tan starts to fade
-DO NOT WAX until tan is gone
Dear existing clients,
As you know I had a baby in January and have been on maternity leave. My Mom needs surgery and recovery will be difficult with her disability. With everything going on my plate is overflowing right now and I need to focus on my family.
The good news is Lisa at Sun Drop Tanning taught me how to tan 5 years ago and she uses the same solutions I do. I dont know at this point when I will be able to return to work. Im sorry for the inconvenience :-(
Love, Megan
